Day 18 – 23 | Glorifying busy

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves are people that claim to be busy. It seems to be an epidemic and it makes me wince every single time that I hear it. Let me clear something up – busy is not synonymous with productive.

Whenever I hear someone say “well, I wanted to … (insert deed of goodwill, regular life event, or really anything), but I’ve just been so busy“, I cringe. I never want my friends, my family, or even my acquaintances to think that I am too busy for them. I never want to be so busy that I am missing it. By “it”, I mean anything to do with life that might pass me by because I am too caught up in being busy.

Yes, we all have things that suck our time, but in the end we get to pick and choose, right? We make the ultimate decision in our own priorities. By the way, as I’m writing this the song “Cats in the Cradle” is playing in my head.

Here I am. Failing miserably at the Daniel Plan. Not writing in our blog. Why? Because I have been busy (BIG cringe). Work obligations, kiddos, friends, have all kept me hopping.

As I started to write tonight, I thought of all of the topics that I could choose from. Personal triumphs. Personal failures. Thoughts that are relatable to Brit’s posts. That’s when I realized that I am missing it. I’m missing the experience of the Daniel Plan. I’m missing the connection with all of you. I’m not prioritizing as I feel that I should. I’m missing all of it.

I’ve lost focus. It’s just that simple. Then, when I lost focus, the other four elements fell much lower on my priority list. I became ashamed of my failures and convinced myself that this experience is unimportant. Then I made sure that I was busy. And I’m missing it.

Here I am. Looking for focus. Reorganizing my priority list. Please help me. I need support. I need focus. I need friendship. I need faith.

“So then, make a statement of your sins to one another, and say prayers for one another so that you may be made well. The prayer of a good man is full of power in its working.” – James 5:16 BBE
